Workplace Rights Posters
University of Richmond is required to post the following notices in the workplace. Printed copies are in Human Resources for employees and applicants to view.
Federal laws require the following six posters be displayed:
Equal Opportunity Employment Commission: Provides notice to applicants and employees of prohibited employment-related discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, and disability.
Employee Polygraph Protection Act: Prohibits most private employers from using lie detector tests either for pre-employment screening or during the course of employement (with some exceptions).
Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): This poster displays notices about minimum wage, overtime pay, child labor laws, and enforcement of the FLSA.
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA): Notice explaining an employee's rights and responsibilities relating to FMLA, including eligibility for leave, notice requirements, job protection, and health benefit continuation.
The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA): "Your Rights Under USERRA" explains the rights, benefits, and obligations of employees covered under USERRA.
Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA): This poster explains that employees are entitled to a workplace free from recognized hazards and how to report potential hazards.
Virginia laws require the following posters to be displayed:
Job Safety and Health Protection: Advises employees of their rights and responsibilities under the OSHA law.
Unemployment Compensation: Advises employees on when they are eligible for unemployment insurance benefits and how to apply for those benefits.
Workers' Compensation: Advises employees and employers of their rights and responsbilities under the Workers' Compensation Law in case of injury or occupational disease.
Earned Income Tax Credit: The EITC is a tax credit for lower income workers who meet certain rules. Taxpayers who qualify and claim the credit could pay less federal tax, pay no tax, or receive a refund.
Commonwealth of Virginia Income Tax Credit: If your total family Virginia adjusted gross income is less than the amounts established under federal poverty guidelines, or the United States Department of Health and Human Services Poverty guidelines, you may qualify to claim the CLI.
Human Rights Act: Safeguards all individuals within the Commonwealth from unlawful discrimination.
