Employment Verification Process
The University of Richmond uses The Work Number® to provide automated employment and income verifications on our employees (faculty and staff). The Work Number service is used when you apply for a loan, need a reference check, lease an apartment, or any other instance where proof of employment or income is needed.
How to Use The Work Number
To Access The Work Number
You can access The Work Number by calling 1-800-367-5690 or by visiting www.theworknumber.com.
For Proof of Employment
If you need to provide proof of employment, you may provide the person requesting with the following information:
- Your social security number
- The University of Richmond employer code: 14541
- Your salary key. See instructions below for creating a salary key.
Creating a Salary Key for Income Verification
A salary key is a six-digit number that allows one-time access to your salary information. If a verifier requests a salary key from you, follow these instructions:
- Go to theworknumber.com
- Select “Employee”
- Select “Log in”
- When asked to “Find your employer,” search “University of Richmond” and select the University as your employer.
- Either register for a new account or log in. (Please note, registration requires your SSN.)
- Once logged in to your account, select “Salary Key” from the top navigation.
- Select “New Salary Key”
- Your Salary Key will appear. Copy the six-digit key (appears in the first cell in the new line of data under “Salary Key) and send it to the person requesting the key.
