Disability Insurance

The University of Richmond is pleased to offer two disability options to all full-time faculty and staff, short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD).

How to apply:

  1. Review the disability policies:
  2. Short-term disability claims: Contact New York Life at 1-888-842-4462 to file a claim if you know you will be out on sick leave for more than 3 days. Cigna will notify the employee of the status of the claim.
  3. Contact the URHR Solution Center at 804-289-8747 once New York Life has approved your claim and let URHR know how you preferred to be paid. Review the policy for payment information.
  4. Long-term disability claims: New York Life will contact the employee after a short-term disability claim has been filed.
