University of Richmond Summer Youth Programs - Little Scholars

The University’s Summer Youth Program offers week long camps for children (rising Kindergarten – rising 8th grade) of full time employees. These programs, which are educational in nature, will be administered by Little Scholars

Programs will run from June 17 - August 9, 2019 and will operate from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm each day camp is in session. No camps will take place the week of July 4th or on Friday, August 2nd (University of Richmond Employee Appreciation Day at Busch Gardens).

Little Scholars representatives will be on campus Monday, February 25th for two information sessions. There will be a brief presentation followed by a question-and-answer period.

Registration

  • There is no cost to employees for enrollment in these programs, but registration is required.
  • Registration will begin Friday, March 1st and continue through Friday, March 15th.
  • Employees (parent/guardian) will register each child using the Little Scholars online registration portal.
  • Employees must use their University email address for registration.
  • Enrollment in these programs does not use tuition remission credits.

Once you apply online:

  1. Your registration will be pending and you will be placed on a waitlist until March 15th, at which time the University will confirm eligibility. If your child is not listed in Banner Web as your dependent at the time of registration, they will not be admitted.
  2. If your child is accepted into a camp and transferred from the waitlist into the camp, you will receive two confirmation emails from Active Network by April 1st.
  3. If the maximum class registration was met prior to your registration, you will remain on the wait list and will be notified if there is a cancellation and a spot becomes available.

Cancellation Fees

If your child is enrolled in a camp and will be unable to attend, please notify Little Scholars as soon as possible. This will allow those who are on the wait list to take advantage of the vacated spot. Please see below for important information regarding applicable cancellation fees.

  1. No additional fee will be charged if you cancel a camp by May 15, 2019.
  2. An administrative fee of $50 per camp will be charged if you cancel a camp after May 15, 2019. This fee will be deducted from the employee’s next paycheck.
  3. If a participant does not provide cancellation notice prior to the start of a camp and the participant does not attend, a no-show fee of $100 will be deducted from the eligible employee’s next paycheck. Exceptions will be made for a child’s illness if a legitimate doctor’s note is provided.

Active Network Registration Directions

  1. Click here to enter the portal
  2. Choose the camps you would like to register for by clicking the blue “Add” buttons
  3. Click Continue on the right hand side when you have chosen all the camp weeks you would like to put in your cart for the summer
  4. Active will prompt you to enter your UR email address to determine if you have an existing account.
  5. If you already have an account, it will ask you to enter your password. If you don’t have an account, Active will prompt you to create a password.
  6. Once you’ve signed in, Active will ask “Who Is Attending?” If this is your first time in the system (which is likely since this is the first year Little Scholars is managing registration for these programs), you will need to “Register a New Person.” Follow the prompts to enter the necessaryinformation. If you have registered for camps before, it is possible that your child’s name will appear in the drop down menu.
  7. Complete the Registration Pages
  8. Be sure to read the Cancellation Policy, Payroll Deduction, and the Active Agreement and Waiver.The Cancellation policy outlines dates, expectations, and possible fees. Once you’ve read and understood these items, please check all three boxes to continue.
  9. Sign the signature box and click “Continue to Cart.”
  10. Click complete

This completes your application for the youth summer programs, but does NOT guarantee a spot in the camp. You will be placed on a waitlist until UR and Little Scholars reviews your eligibility. If your child is not listed in Banner Web as your dependent at the time of registration, they will not be admitted. We will contact you via email to confirm your child’s camp placement. As in previous years, placement is determined on a first-come, first-serve basis.

When you complete the Waitlist Registration, you will receive two emails from Active Network:

  • The Waitlist Confirmation Email
  • The Waitlist Receipt Email ($0.00 balance)

If your child is accepted into a camp and transferred from the waitlist into the camp, you will receive 2 more emails from Active Network by April 1st, 2019.

  • The Registration Receipt Email ($0.00 balance)

If the program you’ve selected has reached capacity prior to your registration, Little Scholars will inform you that you will remain on the waitlist until a place becomes available.
