UR Engaged

An enhanced performance management process

The University of Richmond believes in recognizing the full contributions of employees and supporting their development. The University's performance management process—UR Engaged—supports regular conversation and collaboration between managers and employees. UR Engaged helps managers and employees reach a shared understanding of expected behaviors and results, provide mutual feedback about progress, and encourages professional development.

Given the diversity of roles on campus, employees' performance and development needs differ. That’s why UR Engaged is designed to be flexible and adaptable.

How UR Engaged works

  1. Employees select goals and/or competencies to work towards annually.
  2. Managers and employees meet quarterly to discuss progress and provide feedback.

  • Communication
  • Service Orientation
  • Relationship Building
  • Problem Solving
  • Self-Awareness
  • Trust & Integrity
  • Embraces Diversity
  • Flexibility & Adaptability
  • Judgment & Decision-Making

  • Creativity
  • Self-Development

To read the full descriptions of each competency, visit the Competency Library:

  1. Log in to urtalentweb.richmond.edu
  2. From the ≡ menu, select UR Engaged and then Goals & Competencies
  3. Select Create and then Library

In order to be effective, feedback should be timely and frequent. UR Engaged utilizes quarterly check-in conversation between managers and employees to talk about performance and development.
