UR Engaged

An enhanced performance management process...

The University of Richmond believes in recognizing the full contributions of employees and supporting their development. The University's performance management process—UR Engaged—supports regular conversation and collaboration between managers and employees. UR Engaged helps managers and employees reach a shared understanding of expected behaviors and results, provide mutual feedback about progress, and encourages professional development.

Given the diversity of roles on campus, employees' performance and development needs differ. That’s why UR Engaged is designed to be flexible and adaptable.

The 3 C's of UR Engaged

Please visit the UR Engaged Resources page for helpful tools related to each of the 3 C's.

Competencies & Goals

We heard that for many employees, traditional goal-setting does not always fit their performance and development needs. For these employees, working on developing competencies can take the place of, or enhance, goal setting.

Check-Ins

In order to be effective, feedback should be timely and frequent. UR Engaged utilizes quarterly Check-In conversations between managers and employees to talk about performance and development.

Continuum of Contribution

The third "C", or the Continuum of Contribution (CoC) is a tool to help managers take a broader look at an employee's contributions during the performance cycle when making merit increase decisions.
