In the event an employee's services are required on a scheduled holiday, an additional day's pay or equivalent compensatory time off will be granted as the work schedule permits and at a time approved by the employee's supervisor. Department supervisors will decide if that department must provide services on holidays. This substitute day must be taken by December 31. If an employee works a portion of a holiday, a pro-rated share of the day (depending on the number of hours worked) will be given.
